Police intervened in a protest at Patna's Gandhi Maidan against alleged BPSC exam irregularities, stopping JP Golambar and detaining twenty demonstrators.

A demonstration organized by the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram) and the Bhim Army took place today at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, demanding a probe into alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examinations. The protest attracted a sizable crowd, with participants chanting slogans and holding placards.

Police forces arrived at the venue and confronted the demonstrators as the leaders attempted to address the gathering. During the encounter, police stopped JP Golambar, a prominent figure associated with the protest, and engaged in a brief scuffle with the crowd.

Law enforcement officials subsequently detained twenty individuals, including several activists, on charges of unlawful assembly and obstruction of public order. The detained persons were taken to a local police station for questioning.

Authorities have not released a detailed statement regarding the specific reasons for the arrests, but they indicated that the action was taken to maintain law and order in the city. The protest organizers have vowed to continue their demand for a transparent investigation into the BPSC exam process.

The incident underscores rising tensions in Bihar over perceived corruption in state recruitment exams and highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in managing large-scale political demonstrations.
