Police in Amritsar's Angad locality carried out house-to-house raids to curb the illegal firecracker business, seizing contraband and detaining suspects.

Amritsar police launched a focused operation in the Angad neighbourhood targeting the illicit firecracker market. Officers conducted systematic door-to-door raids, inspecting premises suspected of storing or manufacturing illegal fireworks.

The crackdown resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of prohibited firecrackers and related materials. Several individuals suspected of involvement in the trade were taken into custody for further investigation.

Authorities said the operation aims to enforce existing regulations on fireworks, especially ahead of upcoming festive periods, and to prevent potential safety hazards associated with unregulated explosives. The police have urged the public to report any similar illegal activities.

The raids are part of a broader effort by Punjab law enforcement to curb the black‑market trade of fireworks, which has been linked to accidents and violations of safety norms.

Further actions, including additional inspections and legal proceedings against the arrested individuals, are expected as the investigation progresses.
