Police bust illegal liquor operation in Baitul, seize thousands of liters of Mahua spirit

Police seized thousands of litres of Mahua spirit and destroyed makeshift stills during a raid near the Jhilpa‑Dharakhoh river in Baitul, Madhya Pradesh.
The Madhya Pradesh police carried out a coordinated raid in the forested area surrounding the Jhilpa‑Dharakhoh river near Baitul. Officers searched through dense bushes and uncovered a large cache of illicit Mahua spirit, stored in about 50 earthen pots and 10 metal containers, amounting to several thousand litres.
The seized liquor was destroyed on the spot to prevent any further illegal distribution. In addition, the police demolished temporary distillation units and the makeshift production site that had been set up for the illicit operation.
No injuries were reported, and the operation underscores the authorities' ongoing efforts to curb the production and sale of unlicensed alcoholic beverages in the region.
