Following the deaths of two people in Chandana village, Madhya Pradesh police seized illegal liquor worth ₹7.25 lakh and arrested ten suspects, including fugitive Vinod Jaiswal.
Two residents of Chandana village in Devas, Madhya Pradesh, died after consuming illicit liquor, prompting a police investigation into the local bootlegging operation. The fatalities raised concerns about the spread of illegal alcohol in the region and led authorities to intensify surveillance of suspected networks.
During the probe, police conducted a raid on premises linked to the alleged liquor syndicate. Ten individuals, among them the wanted bootlegger Vinod Jaiswal, were taken into custody. Officers also recovered approximately ₹7.25 lakh worth of contraband spirit, commonly referred to as "mashruka," which is known for its high alcohol content and lack of quality control.
The arrested persons are being held for further questioning, and the case is being forwarded to the district court for filing of charges under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act and related sections of the Indian Penal Code. Investigators said they will continue to trace the supply chain to prevent any recurrence of such tragedies.
