Rajasthan police have exposed a gang accused of inducing religious conversions through promises of wealth in Bilada, Jodhpur, and have arrested one suspect, Sujeet Hanuman.
Jodhpur district authorities announced on Tuesday that they have dismantled a network allegedly offering monetary incentives to persuade individuals to change their religion. The investigation, focused on the rural area of Bilada, led to the identification of several operatives believed to be part of the scheme.
Police said the suspects used promises of financial gain and other temptations to lure vulnerable people, a practice that violates both criminal law and the state's anti-conversion statutes. The operation culminated in the arrest of one individual, identified as Sujeet Hanuman, who is now in police custody for further questioning.
Officials emphasized that the crackdown is part of a broader effort to curb unlawful conversion activities across Rajasthan. They have not disclosed additional arrests or the total number of people allegedly involved, pending further investigation.
The case underscores growing concerns among state authorities about covert conversion tactics that exploit economic hardship. The police have urged the public to report any similar activities to help prevent exploitation.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities will file charges once sufficient evidence is gathered against the remaining members of the alleged gang.
