Police have taken into custody Pawan Yadav, identified as the alleged chief shooter in the killing of retired customs officer Ramkumar Singh, following a shoot‑out in Bhojpur, Bihar.
Bhojpur district police announced that Pawan Yadav, whom they allege to be the principal shooter in the murder of retired customs assistant commissioner Ramkumar Singh, was apprehended after a brief armed encounter. The confrontation left Yadav injured, and he was subsequently taken to a local medical facility before being transferred to police custody.
According to the police statement, the operation was launched after intelligence inputs linked Yadav to the 2023 killing of Singh, who had been serving as a senior customs official before retirement. Investigators recovered a firearm and ammunition at the scene, which they say matches the weapon used in the homicide.
The authorities have not disclosed further details about the motive or any accomplices. The case, which has drawn considerable public attention in Bihar, will now proceed through the regular judicial process, with the police promising a thorough investigation.
Local officials have urged residents to cooperate with the investigation and have assured that law‑enforcement agencies will continue to pursue all leads related to the murder.
