Five individuals were taken into custody by the Trimbakeshwar police after authorities uncovered a scheme to produce counterfeit currency notes.

In a recent operation, the Trimbakeshwar police arrested five suspects on charges of forging Indian currency notes. The arrests were made on Tuesday evening at a location in the town, following an investigation that traced the suspects to a clandestine printing setup.

According to police, the suspects had been producing counterfeit notes in a makeshift facility, using high‑resolution printers and ink that closely resembled genuine currency. The operation reportedly involved the creation of several hundred fake ₹500 and ₹200 notes, which were intended for distribution in the local market.

A spokesperson for the Trimbakeshwar police said the arrests were part of a broader crackdown on counterfeiting activities in the Nashik district. "We are committed to protecting the integrity of the Indian rupee and have taken swift action against those attempting to undermine it," the officer said.

The arrested individuals are now in police custody and are expected to face charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the Indian Penal Code. Authorities have seized the printing equipment and the counterfeit notes seized during the raid.
