PM Modi Warns of Weaponisation of Critical Minerals, Calls for Global Action

Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned on 13 September that critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt and rare earths could be weaponised by states seeking strategic advantage. He called for international cooperation to secure supply chains and reduce dependence on single sources. Modi added that India is investing in domestic mining and processing to meet the growing demand from technology and defence sectors. The Prime Minister urged countries to avoid using critical minerals as geopolitical tools and to work together for fair and transparent access.
