Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined his vision for a sports‑driven, developed India during the Khelo India Dialogue, emphasizing infrastructure, talent nurturing and mass participation.

In a high‑profile gathering of sports officials, athletes and policymakers at the Khelo India Dialogue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a comprehensive plan to transform India into a "Sporting Viksit Bharat." The address highlighted the government's commitment to embed sport at the core of national development.

Modi stressed the need for robust infrastructure, from modern stadiums in tier‑2 and tier‑3 cities to well‑equipped school playgrounds, ensuring that every child has access to quality facilities. He called for systematic talent identification programmes, increased funding for coaching, and stronger public‑private partnerships to sustain elite training centres.

The prime minister linked sports to broader socio‑economic goals, noting that regular participation can improve public health, foster social cohesion and boost India's competitiveness on the global stage. He urged states and local bodies to align their policies with the Khelo India scheme to accelerate implementation.

Looking ahead, Modi announced that the upcoming fiscal year will see a significant boost in budgetary allocation for grassroots sports, alongside incentives for private investors to develop sports academies. The vision, he said, aims to create a generation of healthy, disciplined citizens who can contribute to a prosperous nation.

The dialogue concluded with a pledge from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to monitor progress through measurable targets, ensuring that the "Sporting Viksit Bharat" agenda translates into tangible outcomes across the country.
