Union Minister Piyush Goyal urged both governments to expand trade, investment and technology collaboration with Japan.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the need to deepen economic cooperation between India and Japan, stressing that a stronger partnership can boost growth for both nations. He pointed to sectors such as advanced manufacturing, green technology and the digital economy as key areas where joint initiatives could yield significant benefits.

Goyal noted that bilateral trade has risen steadily in recent years, but there remains ample scope to expand market access and attract Japanese investment into Indian infrastructure and renewable‑energy projects. He called for more joint ventures, research collaborations and supply‑chain diversification to reduce reliance on single sources.

The minister urged both governments to make full use of the existing Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and to institutionalise regular high‑level dialogues that can translate policy intent into concrete projects. He said such steps would align with India's strategic goal of broadening its economic partners and Japan's interest in tapping the Indian consumer market.

By reinforcing economic ties, Goyal argued, India and Japan can jointly navigate global challenges, create jobs and foster innovation across the region.
