Pilots' Association Demands Seat on Panel Reviewing AI-171 Crash Report

The Indian pilots' federation has formally requested representation on the committee tasked with reviewing the draft final investigation report of the Air India AI‑171 crash that claimed 190 lives in February. The association argues that pilots’ expertise is essential to assess technical findings and safety recommendations that will emerge from the probe. The review panel, set up by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, comprises officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau and independent experts, but currently does not include any pilot representatives. In response, the DGCA has said it will consider the request and will inform the pilots' body of its decision within the next two weeks. The inclusion of pilots could influence the final safety directives aimed at preventing similar tragedies in the future.
