Police in Noida used a photograph posted on a phone status to identify suspects in a murder that occurred 29 years ago, leading to the arrest of two brothers.
Police investigators in Noida said a picture that appeared on a mobile phone status update became the pivotal clue in a cold murder case dating back 29 years. The image, posted publicly, matched individuals who were later linked to the unsolved homicide.
Detectives reviewed the status photo, cross‑checked it with existing records and traced the persons shown to a pair of brothers residing in the city. The breakthrough revived a case that had remained dormant for nearly three decades.
Following the identification, the brothers were taken into custody by Noida police. Authorities indicated that further interrogation will focus on establishing their exact role in the 1990s killing, and legal proceedings are expected to commence shortly.
