Drivers transporting petroleum products in Manipur have withdrawn a planned strike after receiving assurances from the state government.

Manipur's petroleum product drivers announced the cancellation of a strike they had scheduled earlier this week. The decision came after the state government met with representatives and offered assurances regarding pending grievances, including fuel pricing and payment delays.

According to officials, the government pledged to review the pricing mechanism and expedite pending dues to dealers and transporters. In return, the drivers' union agreed to suspend the industrial action, citing the assurances as satisfactory for the time being.

The move is expected to stabilise fuel supply chains across the state, preventing potential shortages at retail outlets. Authorities have urged other transport unions to follow the dialogue-driven approach to resolve disputes.

The cancellation also eases concerns among commuters and businesses that feared a disruption in the distribution of diesel, petrol and kerosene. The government has said it will monitor the situation and engage further if any issues arise.
