Fuel prices in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru increased on Sept 10, following crude oil edging toward $102 a barrel.

The government‑approved petrol and diesel rates for Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru were revised upward on 10 September, reflecting the latest movement in global crude oil prices. The new tariffs were announced by the respective state petroleum corporations and are effective from the day of release.

International crude oil futures have inched close to the $102 per barrel mark, a level that typically prompts Indian fuel regulators to adjust domestic prices. Analysts note that the rise in crude prices is driven by tighter supply expectations and steady demand in major consuming economies.

The increase in fuel costs is expected to add to the commuting expenses of millions of city dwellers and could exert upward pressure on inflation, especially in transport‑dependent sectors. Consumer groups have urged the authorities to consider the impact on lower‑income households.

Price revisions for petroleum products in India are usually carried out on a monthly basis, aligning with changes in global oil markets. The latest adjustment follows a similar pattern observed in previous months when crude prices moved sharply.
