Director Peter Jackson confirmed that development on the sequel to "The Adventures of Tintin" is underway and revealed that a new Lord of the Rings film is also in the pipeline.
Peter Jackson, the acclaimed New Zealand filmmaker behind the successful "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, spoke to Dark Horizons about his upcoming projects. He confirmed that work on "Tintin 2," the sequel to the 2011 adventure film, has moved beyond the scripting stage and is now in early pre‑production. While no official release date was disclosed, Jackson indicated that the team is aligning schedules with key talent and visual‑effects partners.
Regarding the iconic Middle‑earth saga, Jackson revealed that a new "Lord of the Rings" film is being developed, separate from the recent Amazon series. The project aims to explore a different era within Tolkien's universe, though details about the storyline and cast remain under wraps. He emphasized that the film will maintain the high production values that defined the original trilogy.
Industry observers noted that Jackson's dual updates signal a busy slate for the director, who has not announced a major feature since "The Beatles: Get Back" documentary. The announcements have generated anticipation among fans of both franchises, who are eager for fresh cinematic experiences rooted in beloved source material.
