Students in Patna intensified their protest against the BPSC TRE‑4 exam, demanding removal of negative marking and a 100% domicile quota, confronting police with water‑cannon and breaking barricades.
On Tuesday, a large group of aspirants gathered outside the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) office in Patna to press for changes in the TRE‑4 recruitment process. Their core demands include scrapping the negative marking applied between the Preliminary Test and Mains, and granting a 100 % domicile reservation for candidates from Bihar.
When police set up barricades to contain the crowd, protesters used coordinated force to dismantle the barriers. Security personnel responded with water‑cannon fire, but the students persisted, advancing despite the spray and engaging directly with the officers.
The confrontation remained intense but did not escalate into widespread violence, and no arrests were reported at the time of writing. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as the demonstrators continue to press for their demands.
