On Tuesday, students in Patna clashed with CRPF after breaking barricades and facing water‑cannon fire, demanding the removal of negative marking and 100% domicile quota in the BPSC TRE‑4 exam.

Patna witnessed a sharp escalation in a student demonstration on Tuesday as protestors demanding changes to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) TRE‑4 examination confronted Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. The rally, organized by aspirants for the Preliminary and Main stages of the exam, focused on the removal of negative marking and the introduction of a 100% domicile reservation, among other grievances.

According to on‑ground reports, demonstrators attempted to breach police‑set barricades near the protest site. When the barricades were forced open, law‑enforcement deployed water cannons in an effort to disperse the crowd. The confrontation quickly turned physical, with students and CRPF officers engaging in a brief melee.

No official casualty figures were released at the time of writing, but the incident underscored growing frustration among BPSC candidates over perceived unfair exam policies. Authorities have indicated that they will review the protestors' demands, while also emphasizing the need to maintain law and order.

The episode adds to a series of recent student agitations across the state, reflecting broader discontent with recruitment examinations and reservation criteria.

Local officials have called for calm and urged both sides to resolve the dispute through dialogue, pending a formal response from the BPSC on the highlighted issues.
