On the sidelines of the UN Human Rights Council session, the Baloch Voice Association president criticized Pakistan over a life sentence for activist Dr Maharang Baloch, calling it suppression of Baloch aspirations.

The Pakistani judiciary and army have been accused of silencing Baloch voices on the international stage. Munir Mengal, President of the Baloch Voice Association (BVA), made these allegations during the 62nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Mengal specifically condemned the reported life imprisonment of Baloch rights activist Dr Maharang Baloch. He described the verdict as a deliberate attempt by Pakistani authorities to suppress the political aspirations of the Baloch people.

The BVA president's statements were made on the sidelines of the ongoing UNHRC session, highlighting international scrutiny of human rights issues in Pakistan-administered Balochistan.
