The Chhattisgarh state government has announced that paddy procurement will begin on 15 November, signalling the start of the buying season for the staple crop.

The agriculture department of Chhattisgarh confirmed that the official procurement of paddy will commence on 15 November. The schedule aligns with the state’s usual buying window, allowing procurement agencies to purchase grain directly from farmers at the announced minimum support price (MSP).

State officials said the early start aims to smooth the supply chain, reduce post‑harvest losses and ensure timely cash flow to cultivators. Procurement will be carried out through designated mandis and e‑procurement platforms, with the government monitoring quality and quantity.

Farmers across the state are expected to benefit from the assured price and reduced market volatility, while the government hopes the move will bolster food‑grain stocks ahead of the upcoming winter season.
