A Telangana Today report released this week revealed that 55.7% of students enrolled in the state’s government schools are still waiting for the new uniforms that were slated for distribution this year. The figure reflects the proportion of pupils who have not yet received the fresh attire despite the programme’s rollout earlier in the calendar year.
The uniform scheme, launched by the state education department, aims to provide a standard set of clothing to all children attending public schools, with the goal of reducing economic disparity and improving attendance. Under the plan, schools were expected to receive batches of uniforms for distribution at the start of the academic session.
Officials from the education department acknowledged the shortfall and said a review of the supply chain and distribution logistics is underway.
