More than 750 dengue infections have been recorded in Churachandpur district of Manipur, prompting authorities to keep schools closed until the situation improves.

Health officials in Manipur have confirmed that the dengue tally in Churachandpur district has risen above 750 cases. The surge has triggered a district-wide directive to keep all schools closed as a precautionary measure against further spread.

The district administration is coordinating with medical teams to intensify vector‑control activities, including fogging and larvicidal spray, while urging residents to eliminate standing water around homes. Public health advisories emphasize early detection of symptoms such as high fever, severe headache and joint pain.

Parents have been asked to monitor children for any signs of illness and to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear. The school closure will remain in effect until health authorities deem the outbreak under control.

Local NGOs and community groups are assisting in awareness campaigns, distributing informational leaflets in both Hindi and regional languages to ensure the message reaches all sections of the population.
