More than 18,000 LPG cylinders in Dhamtari district have been blocked after users failed to complete the mandatory biometric e‑KYC, affecting even local officials and representatives.

The Dhamtari district administration has halted supply to over 18,000 LPG connections after the owners did not fulfil the biometric e‑KYC requirement mandated by the Petroleum Ministry. The enforcement action was taken after repeated reminders and a deadline that passed without sufficient compliance.

The suspension applies to residential as well as commercial users, and officials from the district’s LPG distribution office, along with elected representatives, were also found to be non‑compliant and consequently faced the same blockage.

Authorities have instructed affected consumers to visit the nearest LPG office to complete the biometric verification process. Once the e‑KYC is verified, the connections will be reinstated, and supply will resume without further interruption.

The move underscores the government's push for digital verification to curb illegal connections and ensure safety standards across the LPG network.

The district administration will monitor compliance closely and may impose additional penalties for repeated non‑compliance.
