Over 17,000 Rescued as Floods Sweep 26 Districts in Uttar Pradesh

More than 17,000 residents have been rescued across 26 districts of Uttar Pradesh after heavy rains caused widespread flooding, officials said.
The Uttar Pradesh government reported that rescue operations have so far saved over 17,000 people from flood‑hit areas across 26 districts. State officials said the scale of the disaster grew after several days of intense rainfall that caused rivers to overflow and low‑lying regions to be submerged.
Emergency teams, including the National Disaster Response Force, the Indian Army, and local police, deployed boats, helicopters and high‑water vehicles to reach stranded residents. Relief workers set up temporary shelters and distributed food, clean water and medical kits to those evacuated.
While many affected families have been moved to safe locations, water levels remain high in several districts, hampering restoration of electricity and road connectivity. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and have urged residents to avoid flood‑prone zones until conditions improve.
The state has also appealed for public cooperation in maintaining cleanliness of drainage channels to prevent further waterlogging. Ongoing assessments will determine the extent of damage and the need for additional aid.
