Over 125,000 Diyas Lit at Kartut Path on PM Modi’s 76th Birthday

On his 76th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the occasion with more than 125,000 oil lamps illuminated along Delhi’s Kartut Path, symbolising national unity and cultural heritage.
Delhi witnessed a massive lighting ceremony on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 76. Organisers arranged for over 125,000 diyas to be lit along the 2.5‑kilometre stretch of Kartut Path, a venue traditionally used for national celebrations.
The event, overseen by the Ministry of Culture and local authorities, was intended to showcase India’s rich traditions while honouring the Prime Minister’s long public service. Volunteers and school children participated in lighting the lamps, creating a continuous glow that stretched from one end of the pathway to the other.
Security forces maintained a tight perimeter, and the ceremony concluded with a brief address by the Prime Minister, who thanked citizens for their participation and reiterated his commitment to nation‑building. The lighting was also streamed live, allowing millions across the country to witness the spectacle.
No injuries or disruptions were reported, and the event is being hailed as a successful display of communal harmony and patriotic fervour.
