Around 11.11 lakh oil lamps illuminated the Ganga banks in Munger, Bihar, while Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced a new Munger‑Bhagalpur marine drive project.
The banks of the Ganga in Munger were awash with light as more than 11.11 lakh diyas were lit during the Diwali celebrations, creating a spectacular night‑time vista that stretched for several kilometres.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, accompanied by senior officials, used the occasion to unveil a proposal for a marine drive linking Munger and Bhagalpur. The plan envisions a 30‑kilometre waterfront road equipped with promenades, lighting, and recreational facilities.
State authorities said the marine drive aims to boost tourism, improve riverfront connectivity and generate employment for local communities. Detailed project reports are being prepared, with an expected completion timeline of five years.
The lighting ceremony and the infrastructure announcement were jointly organised by the Bihar Tourism Department and the municipal corporation, underscoring the government's focus on cultural heritage and urban development.
