Outsourced staff employed by the Himachal Pradesh government gathered across the state to demand guaranteed employment and better wages.
Outsourced employees of various Himachal Pradesh government departments assembled in several districts, voicing concerns over the lack of permanent positions and inadequate pay. The workers, who are hired on contract through private agencies, said their livelihoods are threatened by frequent contract renewals and low remuneration.
Union representatives highlighted that many of the staff have been serving for years without any assurance of job continuity. They called on the state administration to regularise their status and to align their salaries with those of regular government employees.
The protest remained peaceful, with participants holding placards and submitting written demands to the Department of Personnel and Training. State officials have acknowledged the grievances and indicated that a review of the outsourcing policy will be undertaken.
No arrests were reported, and the demonstration is expected to continue until the authorities provide a clear response on job security and pay revisions.
