A large open pit has been found in the parking area of Guru Nanak Market in Mohali, raising safety concerns for shoppers and jeopardizing nearby businesses.
Local authorities were alerted on Monday after a sizeable open pit was reported in the parking lot of Guru Nanak Market, a busy commercial hub in Mohali, Punjab. The depression, reportedly several feet deep, is located near the main entrance where vehicles frequently queue.
Shop owners in the market expressed alarm, noting that the uncovered pit poses a direct risk to pedestrians and motorists and could deter customers from visiting the area. Several stalls have already reported a dip in footfall since the incident became public.
The Mohali municipal corporation has dispatched a team to assess the hazard and has announced plans to fill the pit and reinforce the surface within the next 48 hours. In the meantime, officials have urged the public to avoid the parking zone and have set up temporary signage to guide traffic safely around the danger zone.
