Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has connected the Khoraghat gas source to the North East gas grid, boosting regional energy supply.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) announced that the Khoraghat gas field has been integrated into the North East gas grid, marking a key step in expanding natural‑gas infrastructure in India's northeastern region.
The linkage is expected to raise the availability of piped natural gas for households, industries and power plants across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura, thereby reducing reliance on diesel and LPG.
Officials said the project required laying new pipelines over challenging terrain and close coordination with state utilities. Its completion is viewed as a milestone in ONGC's strategy to tap under‑utilised gas reserves and strengthen energy security.
The move aligns with the central government’s push for cleaner fuels and could attract further investment in the region’s energy sector.
