A tractor‑trolley carrying pilgrims from Semalda village to Gwalior overturned near Nonpura valley, killing one person and wounding more than 40 others.

A tractor‑trolley loaded with pilgrims set out from Semalda village in Shyopur, heading for Gwalior, lost control and tipped over near the Nonpura valley in Madhya Pradesh. The vehicle, commonly used for short‑distance pilgrim transport, rolled onto its side, trapping passengers inside.

Emergency services reached the scene quickly. One passenger was pronounced dead at the site, while more than 40 others sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts to serious fractures. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, and a medical team was dispatched to provide on‑site first aid.

Local authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, examining factors such as vehicle condition, driver fatigue and road safety. Police have also begun compiling statements from survivors and witnesses.

The incident underscores the risks associated with overcrowded, makeshift transport used during religious journeys. Officials have urged pilgrims to use certified transport services and to adhere to safety guidelines for future trips.
