A suspected clash between Kuki and Naga groups in Manipur left one person dead and four others injured, officials said.
Manipur authorities reported that a violent encounter believed to involve members of the Kuki and Naga communities resulted in one fatality and four injuries. Local police said the incident occurred in a remote part of the state, but exact coordinates were not disclosed.
The deceased was identified as a resident of the area, while the injured were taken to the nearest medical facility for treatment. Hospital officials confirmed that all four patients are in stable condition.
The clash adds to a series of recent tensions between the two ethnic groups, which have a history of sporadic confrontations over land and political representation. State officials have called for calm and urged community leaders to engage in dialogue.
The police have launched an investigation, collecting statements from witnesses and securing the site. Security forces have been deployed to prevent further escalation and to maintain law and order in the region.
