From 25 August, a Bhopal‑Gwalior Express rake will replace its 21 ICF coaches with an 18‑coach LHB set, comprising 12 general, 3 sleeper, 1 third‑AC, 1 LSRD and a generator car.
The Indian Railways has announced that, effective 25 August, one rake of the Bhopal‑Gwalior Express will be upgraded from the older ICF design to a modern LHB configuration. The change replaces the existing 21‑coach ICF formation with an 18‑coach LHB set.
The new rake will consist of 12 general‑class coaches, three sleeper‑class coaches, a single third‑class AC coach, one LSRD (Luggage‑Sitting‑Reserved‑Disabled) coach and a generator car to supply power for onboard amenities.
The remaining two rakes that operate on the same route will continue with their current configurations, as no alterations have been scheduled for them.
LHB coaches are known for higher speed potential, improved safety features and a smoother ride, which is expected to enhance passenger comfort on the Bhopal‑Gwalior corridor.
The upgrade is part of a broader effort to modernise rolling stock on key intercity services across Madhya Pradesh.
