The Omkareshwar municipal council shut down a food court after the operator failed to pay the third lease installment of about ₹60 lakh, despite a prior payment of ₹2.5 crore on a ₹7 crore lease.
The Omkareshwar municipal council ordered the sealing of a food court after the operator fell behind on the third installment of the lease, which amounts to roughly ₹60 lakh. The lease agreement, valued at ₹7 crore, had seen an initial payment of ₹2.5 crore, but the pending amount triggered the council's enforcement action.
The operator protested, alleging that the council acted before the stipulated deadline for payment. He also claimed that recent parking restrictions and ongoing construction work in the vicinity had hampered the court's business, contributing to the shortfall.
Council officials confirmed that the decision was taken solely on the basis of the outstanding dues, and they have not indicated any further penalties beyond the seal pending resolution of the payment dispute.
