The historic Saraighat bridge in Guwahati will resume vehicular movement after being closed for almost two months, authorities said.

The Assam government announced that the Old Saraighat bridge, a key crossing over the Brahmaputra in Guwahati, will once again allow vehicles after nearly sixty days of closure. The bridge, which serves as a major conduit for daily commuters and commercial traffic, was shut for repairs and safety checks earlier this year.

Officials indicated that the maintenance work has been completed and the structure has been cleared for public use. The reopening is expected to alleviate the heavy traffic congestion that has built up on alternate routes during the bridge’s downtime.

Local commuters are advised to follow standard traffic regulations as the bridge resumes normal operations. The authorities will continue to monitor the bridge for any safety concerns in the coming weeks.
