State teachers have postponed their planned industrial action until September 22 following assurances from the state ministers.

Odisha's government employees in the education sector announced that the strike originally slated for earlier this month will now be held on September 22. The decision was taken after senior ministers met with representatives of the teachers' unions and offered assurances on pending grievances.

The ministers reportedly promised to address issues related to salary revisions, promotion criteria, and the implementation of recent policy reforms. While no specific timetable was disclosed, the assurances were described as "concrete" by union leaders, prompting the postponement.

The teachers' unions have said they will monitor the government's follow‑up actions closely. If the promised measures are not implemented satisfactorily, they reserve the right to resume the strike on the newly announced date.

The postponement is expected to avert disruption in schools across the state for the next few weeks, allowing academic activities to continue uninterrupted while negotiations proceed.
