Construction of the state‑provided quarters for Odisha legislators, which began in 2022, has missed all scheduled deadlines, prompting concerns over project delays.

The government‑funded housing scheme for Odisha Members of the Legislative Assembly was launched in 2022 with an initial completion target of late 2023. Six months into the project, the contractor reported that land acquisition and utility connections were slower than planned, pushing the first deadline back.

Subsequent milestones set for early 2024 and mid‑2025 have also been missed, according to a recent status report from the state’s Housing Department. The report notes that while structural work is underway at several sites, interior fittings and final approvals remain pending.

State officials have acknowledged the delays, attributing them to a combination of funding disbursement issues and bureaucratic clearances. They have assured legislators that corrective measures, including an accelerated work schedule and additional oversight, are being implemented to bring the project back on track.

No new completion date has been announced, but the department has pledged to provide a revised timeline within the next fortnight.
