The state government of Odisha has inaugurated its first in-house genomics laboratory, aimed at enhancing precision oncology services across the region.
Odisha's health authorities have inaugurated the state's first in‑house genomics laboratory, a move aimed at strengthening precision oncology services across the region.
The facility, located within the state’s flagship medical institute, will carry out genomic sequencing of tumour samples, enabling doctors to identify actionable mutations and tailor treatment plans to individual patients.
By providing rapid, locally conducted genomic analyses, the lab is expected to reduce turnaround times and lower costs for patients, making advanced cancer care more accessible throughout Odisha.
The laboratory will also serve as a training hub for clinicians and researchers, and will collaborate with national research bodies to keep the state at the forefront of cancer genomics.
