The Odisha administration has begun moving people from coastal and low‑lying zones as Cyclone Murasu nears the state’s shoreline.

The state government of Odisha has issued an evacuation directive for residents living in vulnerable coastal districts as Cyclone Murasu intensifies over the Bay of Bengal. Disaster management teams are coordinating the movement of families to designated relief shelters, ensuring that basic amenities such as food, water and medical aid are available.

Authorities have mobilised police, National Disaster Response Force personnel and local volunteers to assist with the evacuation process. Temporary camps have been set up in safer interior locations, and transportation has been arranged for those without private means.

The government has also warned fishermen to remain ashore and has ordered the closure of fishing harbours until the cyclone passes. Continuous updates are being broadcast through radio, television and official social‑media channels to keep the public informed about the storm’s trajectory and safety instructions.

Officials emphasized that the evacuation is a precautionary measure aimed at preventing loss of life and property, and they urged citizens to cooperate fully with the relief teams.
