The Odisha state government has unveiled a ₹1,000 crore relief package to support those affected by recent severe flooding across the state.
The eastern state of Odisha continues to wrestle with extensive flooding after heavy monsoon rains, which have displaced thousands and caused widespread damage to homes, infrastructure and agricultural lands.
During a 7 PM news briefing on Kanak News Odisha, the state government announced a relief package worth ₹1,000 crore aimed at immediate assistance, rehabilitation and long‑term reconstruction for the flood‑hit districts.
The package allocates funds for emergency shelters, food and medical supplies, repair of damaged roads and bridges, and financial aid to farmers and small businesses. State officials said the scheme will be channelled through existing disaster‑management agencies to ensure swift delivery.
National authorities are also monitoring the situation, with the National Disaster Response Force already deployed in the worst‑affected areas. Residents have been urged to cooperate with rescue teams and adhere to safety advisories as relief operations intensify.
