Odisha Disburses Rs 14.34 Crore as Second Installment of Gyanodaya Free Education Scheme

The Odisha government has released a second tranche of Rs 14.34 crore under the Gyanodaya KG‑to‑PG free education scheme, continuing its effort to provide tuition‑free schooling from kindergarten through postgraduate studies.
The state of Odisha has transferred Rs 14.34 crore to the Gyanodaya KG‑to‑PG free education scheme as the second instalment of the programme. The disbursement was announced by the state education department as part of the government's commitment to universal, tuition‑free education.
Gyanodaya, launched earlier this year, aims to cover the entire spectrum of formal schooling – from kindergarten (KG) to postgraduate (PG) courses – for eligible students across the state. The first instalment, released in the previous quarter, funded infrastructure upgrades and scholarship awards.
The latest tranche will be used to expand classroom facilities, provide learning materials, and extend scholarship coverage to higher‑education institutions. Officials said the funds will be allocated to district education offices for direct implementation.
State officials emphasized that the scheme aligns with national objectives of increasing enrolment and reducing dropout rates, particularly in rural and tribal areas. Monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to ensure transparent utilisation of the released amount.
The education ministry will release a detailed report on the utilisation of the second instalment in the coming weeks, as part of its regular audit process.
