Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Coal India Limited are set to invest Rs 25,000 crore in a significant coal gasification project in Odisha.

A substantial investment of Rs 25,000 crore is slated for a coal gasification project in Odisha, marking a significant development in the state's industrial landscape. The investment will be jointly undertaken by two major public sector undertakings: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Coal India Limited.

This ambitious project aims to leverage coal gasification technology, a process that converts coal into synthesis gas (syngas). Syngas can then be used to produce a variety of valuable chemicals and fuels, offering a cleaner and more efficient way to utilize coal resources.

The initiative underscores the government's focus on enhancing energy security and promoting advanced industrial technologies within India. The substantial capital infusion is expected to boost economic activity and create employment opportunities in Odisha.
