The Odisha Criminal Investigation Department has launched an inquiry into the disappearance of the official report on the 2008 Kandhamal violence, aiming to uncover the reasons behind the missing document.
The Odisha Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has announced a fresh probe into the disappearance of the official report on the 2008 Kandhamal violence.
The report, which detailed the communal clashes that erupted in Kandhamal district, was never made available to the public and its whereabouts remain unknown.
CID officials said the investigation will involve forensic examination of the missing file, interviews with former inquiry commission members and a review of the chain of custody of the document.
The department will coordinate with the state police and the inquiry commission that originally compiled the report to determine how the file was lost and whether any wrongdoing has occurred.
