The Odisha government has opened 135 dialysis centres under the Prime Minister's National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) in the last two years, a minister told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
The announcement was made during a session where the minister highlighted the rapid expansion of dialysis facilities across the state, aiming to improve access to life‑saving treatment for patients with kidney failure.
Health officials said the new centres will serve thousands of patients, reducing the need for long‑distance travel to major hospitals. The PMNDP, launched in 2022, is part of the central government’s effort to strengthen dialysis services nationwide.
The minister added that Odisha will continue to scale up the programme, with plans to add more centres in rural and underserved areas in the coming years.
