Student wing NSUI rallied on Raisina Road in Delhi demanding reversal of recent voter deletions, after police detained several participants.

On Tuesday, members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) gathered on Raisina Road, the capital’s main thoroughfare, to protest the recent removal of names from electoral rolls. The demonstrators carried placards and chanted slogans demanding that the Election Commission restore the deleted voters, whom they say belong to marginalized communities.
Police units deployed along the stretch responded by forming a cordon and eventually arrested a number of activists who refused to disperse. The detentions were carried out under sections of the Delhi Police Act, and the arrested individuals were taken to nearby police stations for questioning.
The protest comes amid a growing controversy over alleged mass deletions of voter entries across several states, a move that opposition parties claim is politically motivated. NSUI leaders have urged the central government to intervene and ensure that the electoral roll is not used as a tool to disenfranchise any section of the electorate.
