Northern Railway launches special Shakurbasti‑Mansi train for festival rush

To ease the surge of travelers during the festive season, Northern Railway announced an unscheduled special train operating between Shakurbasti and Mansi Junction.
Northern Railway has introduced a special, non‑regular service linking Shakurbasti in Delhi with Mansi Junction in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at decongesting the rail network during the upcoming festivals. The move comes after the railway authority observed a sharp rise in passenger numbers on the corridor, prompting the need for additional capacity.
The special train is scheduled to run daily from 1 October to 15 November, departing Shakurbasti at 06:30 am and reaching Mansi Junction at 10:45 am, with a return service leaving Mansi at 12:30 pm and arriving back at Shakurbasti at 04:45 pm. It will comprise three AC Chair Car coaches and five General Second Class coaches, offering both comfort and affordability.
Railway officials have indicated that the train will be fully booked within hours of ticket release, reflecting strong demand. Tickets will be available through the IRCTC portal and at designated reservation counters, with a modest surcharge applied for the special service.
The introduction of this service is expected to alleviate pressure on regular trains, reduce crowding at major stations, and provide a smoother travel experience for holiday‑making passengers across the region.
