The National Asset Monetisation Company plans to raise up to ₹15,000 crore in the 2027 fiscal year by monetising assets of public‑sector undertakings, Business Standard reports.
The National Asset Monetisation Company (NLMC) has announced an ambitious target to mobilise up to ₹15,000 crore in the financial year 2027. The plan hinges on the monetisation of assets owned by central public‑sector undertakings (PSUs), a strategy the government has been promoting to unlock value and reduce fiscal pressure.
According to Business Standard, NLMC will work with a range of PSUs to identify non‑core assets that can be transferred or leased to private players under transparent, market‑based mechanisms. The proceeds are expected to be channelled into infrastructure projects and other priority spending.
The move reflects a broader policy push to improve the balance sheet of PSUs while generating fresh capital without raising taxes. Industry analysts note that achieving the ₹15,000 crore goal will depend on the pace of asset identification, regulatory clearances, and investor appetite.
If successful, the monetisation drive could set a precedent for larger-scale asset sales across the public sector, potentially reshaping the financing landscape for India's development agenda.
