Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inspected ongoing national‑highway works in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, emphasizing the need for high construction standards and preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, visited key sites of national‑highway construction in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. During the tour, he inspected progress on several stretches earmarked for expansion and upgrade under the central government's infrastructure push.

Gadkari highlighted that the monsoon months pose a critical test for road durability, urging contractors to adhere strictly to quality norms and use weather‑resistant materials. He said any compromise could lead to premature damage, increasing maintenance costs and jeopardising safety.

The minister also directed project officials to accelerate completion timelines while ensuring that environmental clearances and land‑acquisition processes remain transparent. He assured that additional funding would be allocated if required to meet the monsoon‑readiness targets.

State officials from Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh accompanied the minister, providing updates on local challenges such as terrain difficulties in the hills and the need for robust drainage systems. The review is part of a broader effort to bolster the national highway network ahead of the rainy season.

The visits underscore the central government's focus on infrastructure resilience, aiming to keep major transport corridors operational throughout the monsoon and support economic activity across the region.
