The Ministry of Railways has approved the conversion of nine special trains operating on the Western Central Railway into regular services, comprising four Amrit Bharat Express and five other mail/express trains.
New Delhi – In a move aimed at enhancing connectivity on the Western Central Railway zone, the Ministry of Railways announced that nine special trains will be upgraded to regular status. The decision covers four Amrit Bharat Express services, a flagship high‑speed corridor, along with five additional mail and express trains that currently run on a temporary schedule.
The regularisation is expected to provide passengers with predictable timetables, improved ticketing options and better integration with the broader Indian Railways network. Officials said the change will also help optimize rolling stock utilization and reduce operational bottlenecks on busy routes.
While the exact commencement dates for each train will be communicated by the railway authorities, the ministry indicated that the transition will be phased in over the coming weeks. Stakeholders, including commuters and freight operators, have welcomed the move as a step toward more reliable rail services in the region.
The upgrade aligns with the government's broader agenda of expanding high‑speed and premium train services across the country, reinforcing the role of rail transport in supporting economic growth and regional development.
