Nine dead after suspected poisonous liquor consumption in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh

A suspected batch of poisonous liquor was consumed in Bundah tehsil of Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, leading to the deaths of nine individuals, according to local officials. The victims were reportedly part of a group that purchased the illicit brew from a local vendor.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Mohan, speaking at a press briefing, condemned the incident and assured that the state government will take "strict and swift" action against those responsible for producing and distributing the hazardous liquor. He directed law‑enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation and bring the culprits to justice.

Police have sealed the premises where the liquor was allegedly stored and have begun a forensic examination to confirm the presence of toxic substances. Local MLA Jitu questioned the protective measures for citizens, asking whose responsibility it is to prevent such tragedies. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities urging the public to avoid unlicensed alcoholic products.
