The National Investigation Agency detained 13 individuals in Assam, West Bengal and Kerala, alleging connections to the Islamic Movement of Kashmir (IMK) terror network.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced that it has taken into custody thirteen persons spread across three states – Assam, West Bengal and Kerala – on suspicion of links to the Islamic Movement of Kashmir (IMK), a banned terror outfit.
According to the agency, coordinated raids were carried out in the respective states after intelligence inputs indicated that the suspects were involved in fundraising, recruitment and logistical support for IMK activities.
The arrested individuals are being questioned on their roles within the network, and the NIA has said that further investigations will determine the extent of the terror group's presence in the region.
Law enforcement officials have not disclosed the names or ages of those detained, but they confirmed that the operation is part of a broader effort to dismantle extremist networks operating in the country.
The NIA will forward the case files to the appropriate courts for trial, and has urged the public to remain vigilant against any attempts to revive banned extremist organisations.
