NHIDCL launches major upgrade and intensified maintenance on NH-13 in Arunachal Pradesh

The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has started an extensive upgrade of National Highway 13 and stepped up its maintenance activities across the route in Arunachal Pradesh.
National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) announced the commencement of a large‑scale upgrade of National Highway 13, a key arterial road traversing Arunachal Pradesh. The project aims to improve road surface quality, widen certain stretches, and reinforce bridges to enhance safety and reduce travel time for commuters and freight traffic.
The upgrade is being carried out alongside an intensified maintenance regime, with additional patrol teams deployed to monitor road conditions, clear obstructions, and address potholes promptly. NHIDCL officials said the maintenance drive will involve regular inspections and rapid response mechanisms to ensure the highway remains operational throughout the monsoon season.
The initiative is part of the central government's broader effort to boost connectivity in the Northeast, facilitating economic development and strategic mobility. Local authorities welcomed the move, noting that better road infrastructure will support tourism, trade, and access to remote villages.
Construction work is expected to be phased to minimise disruption, with temporary diversions and signage installed where necessary. NHIDCL has not disclosed a final completion date, but officials indicated that critical sections will be upgraded within the next six months.
